A collection of sprocket-wheels are connected by a long chain. Driven by an electric motor the somewhat larger sprocket in the middle rotates at constant speed and drives the chain.

The rotational speed of the smaller sprockets around it constantly changes. This is because their axes are non-centered and so the distance from the axle to the where the sprocket is driven by the chain varies. To ensure tension in the long chain brass weights pull down a final sprocket at the bottom of the structure.
While the chain runs steadily in between the changing composition of sprockets the whole moves in a seemingly unpredictable and organic way.
